The short version: Cozy Acres has no ads, and we do not sell your information. Your farm is saved on your device. If you use the online features (friends, gifts, the Shared Market and leaderboards), a small amount of game data is stored on our server so those features work. If you choose to sign in with Google, a copy of your farm is also kept on our server so you can play it on other devices. You can delete all of it at any time, right in the game.
Who we are
Cozy Acres is made by Josh Makes Games ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Cozy Acres game in your web browser, the Cozy Acres Android app on Google Play, and this website.
What we collect
Stored on your device
Your farm, crops, animals, coins, gems and settings are saved on your device (in your browser's storage or in the app's storage). We cannot see this data unless you use online features.
When you use online features
- An anonymous account id, created automatically the first time the game goes online. No email or password is needed.
- Your public profile: friend code, farmer name, farm name (if you set one), your farmer's look (body, colours and hat), level, total XP, farm value, charm and this week's XP.
- Gifts you send and receive (items, coins and the short note of up to 140 characters you can add) and items you list, sell or buy in the Shared Market.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting providers (GitHub Pages for the website and game files, Supabase for online play) automatically log technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the time of each request to run and protect the service. These logs are kept only for a short time (typically a few days) and we do not use them to identify or track you.
If you sign in with Google (optional)
- Your email address and Google account id, which Google shares with us when you sign in. We use them only to sign you in. We do not get your Google password, contacts or anything else from your Google account.
- Your name and profile picture link as provided by Google, if Google includes them.
- A cloud save: a copy of your farm (the same data as an exported save), the device type it was saved from (for example "Android phone") and when it was saved. Only you can read it.
Apart from an optional Google sign-in, we do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, contacts or location in the game.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- No payment details. If optional purchases are added in future, payments are handled by Google Play and we never see your card or bank details.
- No selling or renting of personal information.
How we use it
Only to run the game's online features: showing your farm to friends, delivering gifts, running the Shared Market and leaderboards, keeping your cloud save if you signed in with Google, keeping things fair, and fixing problems. We never email you for marketing.
Sharing
Your farm name, level and leaderboard position are visible to other players. Your email address and cloud save are never shown to other players. The website and game files are hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.), and online play data (accounts, profiles, gifts, market listings and cloud saves) is stored with Supabase (Supabase, Inc.). Sign in with Google is provided by Google. These providers process data only on our behalf to run the service, and data may be processed in countries other than your own. All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We may share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep online data while you use the online features. Claimed gifts and finished market listings may be cleared out after 30 days. When you tap Delete my online account in the game, your online data is deleted from our server straight away. If you ask us by email, we delete it within 30 days. Short-lived technical logs held by our hosting providers expire on their own.
Your choices
- Delete your online account and data: in the game, open Settings, then Online play, and tap Delete my online account. This deletes your sign-in (including your Google email address), profile and friend code, cloud save, market listings and gifts straight away. The farm on your device stays. You can also email us with your friend code and we will delete it for you.
- Sign out: Settings, Online play, Sign out stops cloud saving on that device.
- Delete local data: uninstall the app, or clear site data for this website in your browser settings.
- Ask a question or make a request: email us (below). Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your information.
Children
Cozy Acres is a gentle game, but it is not directed at children under 13, and its online features (public farmer names, gifts with short notes and the Shared Market) are meant for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the online features, a parent or guardian can delete that online data at any time with the Delete my online account button in the game's Settings, or by emailing us the friend code, and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, mention it in the game.
